Ronald Gene Claeys
(December 28, 1938 - July 9, 2006)

Ronald Gene Claeys, 67, DeWitt, Iowa, died Sunday afternoon, July 9, 2006 at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa.

He was born December 28, 1938 in Welton, Iowa, the son of John and Anna Hendricks Claeys. Ron served in the Army during the Bay of Pigs. He married Trudy Tedford in May of 1973 in Davenport, Iowa. Ron had lived in Houston, Texas, where he worked at Deere Park Lumber.

Ron was a big St. Louis Cardinal Fan, and also enjoyed watching the Houston Astros golf on TV.

Survivors include daughters, Lynette Claeys, Davenport, and Jeanette (Marc) Seibel, Camanche, Iowa; step-daughters, Lisa Marshall, DeWitt, Laura (Sajid) Kahn, Houston, Texas, Penny (Don) Freashour, Branson, Missouri, and Ruth Ann Strong, Denver, Colorado; a stepson, John (Amy) Denahey, Aurora, Colorado; twelve grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Claeys and a brother-in-law, Bill Walker, Welton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy, sisters, Marjorie Walker, Audry Boyer and Madonna Claeys and his brother, Francis Claeys.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006 in Schultz Funeral Home Chapel, DeWitt. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the funeral home. Interment St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, DeWitt.
