James H. Bull, 83, of Clinton, died Monday, July 18, 2011 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehab Center.

Memorial Services will be 10:30am, Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 3:00pm – 8:00pm at the funeral home.

James Harold Bull was born on December 6, 1927 the son of Wilson B. and Dorothy Hall

Bull. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1945.

Jim married Faye Reynolds on November 6, 1949 in Clinton.

He was a farmer and a cattleman. He started farming with his father as a young boy. He

liked inventing equipment that helped make farming easer. Some of his inventions were

patented. In 1963 Jim received the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year Award for

Clinton County. Later he joined his father in the livestock business. He owned and

operated Bull Livestock, Inc. until retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Clinton and

Whiteside County Cattlemen's Association.

Jim was an active member of the YMCA and served on the Board of Directors for many

years. He enjoyed the Y's Men's Club and was especially active with their River Boat

Days and Christmas Tree projects.

Jim enjoyed flying and got his pilots license. He also had his Amateur Radio License.

Later he flew Radio Controlled Airplanes and enjoyed his flier friends in Iowa, Illinois

and Texas. He collected and restored Antique tractors and participated in The Eastern

Iowa Tractorcade.

He was a member of the Clinton Moose Lodge #363 and was active in the Clinton

Jaycees. He was a member of Emulation #255 Masonic Lodge, Clinton Scottish Rite

Bodies and KAABA Shrine.

Jim enjoyed playing cards and especially liked playing bridge and euchre. He also

enjoyed volleyball, racket ball, tennis, sailing and fishing. He loved to drive a combine

for his son at harvest time. He spent winters in McAllen, Texas and loved having his

family come to visit.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Faye of Clinton; his children: Wilson (Judy) of

rural De Witt, Kim (Rick) Bartels of Cedar Rapids, and Rick Bull of Clinton; three

grandchildren: Jim C. (Tiffany) Bull of Clinton, Jessica (Sam) Rhatigan, and Ryan Scott

of Marion; one great-granddaughter Jaedyn Jimaye Rhatigan; a sister: Marian Fowler of

Camanche; his mother-in-law: Marcia Reynolds of Clinton; sister-in-laws: Connie (Jerry)

Bennis of Clinton, and Sandra (Don) Schoephorster of Shoals, Indiana; and several nieces

and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law Cyril Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Clinton Humane Society or Camp

Courageous. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mercy Hospice and Dr. Harrison and his staff for their support and care during the past weeks.
