The Clinton Herald Monday May 24, 1926 p 6 Clinton friends yesterday attended the funeral services for the late Mrs. Matilda Coyne Rice, wife of Josiah Rice, of Chicago, formerly of Clinton, held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Coyne home in Rock Island. Mrs. Rice passed away at the home, 4213 N. Ashland avenue, Chicago, May 21. With Mr. Rice, she was a resident of Clinton for many years, while Mr. Rice was a prominent architect here. The family left Clinton about 25 years ago, going to Chicago, where for many years Mr. Rice was employed by the federal government, subsequently engaging in business for himself. He is still active in the business. While residents of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Rice resided in Tenth avenue, between Sixth and Seventh streets. Left to mourn the death of the deceased are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Mielly of Chicago, and two sisters, the Misses Amy and Clara Coyne of Rock Island. Another daughter, Charlotte Agate, died some years ago.
