Arthera J. Skiff, 81, of Clinton, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at her home.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Skiff, Keith Skiff, Brent Seeser, Randy Seeser, Sean Seeser, and Chad Sweeney. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and her special nieces, Ami Seeser, Janet Griswold, and Jane Willis. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Arthera J. Seeser was born on November 10, 1929 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Evelyn (Hansen) Seeser. She married Joseph Skiff on June 7, 1950 in Clinton; he died on May 19, 1985.

She attended Tallman School and was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School. She also attended Mount St. Clare and Marycrest University.

She began teaching in a one room school house, then later went on to substitute and tutor in the Clinton School District.

She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church.

Arthera is survived by four daughters: , Karen (Mark) Johnson of Wataga,IL, Donna Jean Holste of Clinton, Cindy Tyler of Sioux City, IA, and Marsha Ernst-Tolifson of Clinton; two sons: Rick (Margie) Skiff of Lakeside, CA, and Dennis (Linda) Skiff of Camanche,IA; 8 grandchildren: Carl Ernst, Amanda and Bradley (Jennifer) Johnson, Nakia and Ry Tyler, and Jeffrey, Michael and Caitlyn Skiff; 1 great granddaughter: Layla Johnson; three brothers: Richard (Corinne) Seeser of Clinton, Gordon Seeser of Harrisburg, PA, and Harlan (Brenda) Seeser of Clinton; two sister-in-laws: Barb (Jack) Quaintance of Clinton and Artie Seeser of Fulton, IL; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Precious.

Arthera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Lori Skiff, her brother Jack Seeser, and a son-in-law Bob Holste.

Memorials can be made to the Lori Skiff Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Saint Paul Lutheran church or Clinton Humane Society.
