Clinton - Marvel A. Ryan age 70 of Clinton died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 24th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. until the service time Friday also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Steve and Mike Hensel, David, Kyle and Nolan Determan and Justin and Neil Ryan. Honorary casket bearers will be Teresa Burg and Angie Hensel.

Marvel was born in Clinton on December 28, 1940, the daughter of Thomas F. and Marvel E. (Smith) Ryan. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. Marvel had been a cook at the D.X. Truck Stop, Michael’s and Porky’s. She worked in the accounting department at J.C. Penny for over 30 years retiring when the Clinton store closed. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, spending time with her grand daughter, and being a grandmother to her nieces and nephews.

Marvel is survived by her daughter, Michele “Micky” Ryan of Clinton; a grand daughter, Molly Ryan of Clinton; four brothers, Thomas (Dorothy) Ryan of Clinton, Steve (Pat) Ryan of Shell Rock, IA, Terry (Raedene) Ryan of Elvira and Edward (Judy) Ryan of Clinton; two sisters, Sheila (Steve) Hensel and Mary (Gary) Determan both of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul and Bob Ryan, two nieces and a great nephew. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
