Alfred G. Keerbs, 82, of Kankakee, Illinois, died Monday afternoon, June 20, 2011 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lois Ester of DeWitt.

Alfred George Keerbs was born April 29, 1929 in Kankakee, Illinois, to Albert and Huldah (Molthan) Keerbs. He was a 1947 graduate of Kankakee High School. Shortly after graduation, Al entered the Army and served on the Panama Canal during the Korean Era. He worked as an Upholster at Kroehler Manufacturing Company in Kankakee for until retirement.

Al was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed visiting with folks and was a diehard Yankee Fan and a Cub Fan.

Surviving are siblings, Lois (Mrs. Richard) Ester of DeWitt, Artel Christensen of Kankakee, Marilynn (Mrs. Charles) Dauderman of Rockford, Illinois, Carolynn (Mrs. Leonard) Snejberg of St. Petersburg, Florida, Thomas (Renee) Christensen of Bradley, Illinois, Rodney (Marla) Christensen of Texas, and Rolland Christensen of Kankakee; numerous nieces and nephews and nieces including Gena (Mrs. Bob) Owen of DeWitt.

Preceding Al in death were his parents, his step-father, Arthur Christensen and grandparents.

Arrangements are pending until a later date with Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
