Clinton, Iowa - Emmett C. Matthiesen age 82 of Clinton, formerly of Bryant, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 14th at the Pape Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 15th at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover. Inurnment will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Honoraty pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Emmett was born on the family farm in Bryant on September 27, 1928, the son of Virtus and Lillian Christiansen Matthiesen. He graduated from Miles High School in 1945. Emmett married Marilyn Mohr on August 20, 1950 at Zion
Lutheran Church. He was the 4th generation to farm the family farm north of Bryant. Emmett was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Emmett is survived by his wife Marilyn; a son, Gregg (Judy) Matthiesen of Bryant; two daughters, Diane (Gary) Thompson of Cedar Rapids and Glenda (Tom) Plaza of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Chris, Jeni, Jana, Amy, Ben, Tome and Celina; 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Badtke of Clinton.
