Clinon, Iowa - Wesley L. Schroeder age 93 of Clinton, died Monday June 13, 2011 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday June 20th at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Sunday 3 – 5 pm at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Wesley was born on April 26, 1918 in Charlotte, IA, the son of George and Clara (Stenzel) Schroeder. He graduated from Charlotte High School. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Harriet Mess on April 21, 1941 in Alexandria, LA, she died in 2008. He worked at Hawkeye Chemical Company for 25 years as a storeroom supervisor, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton AMVETS, and Clinton Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and working in the garden.

Wesley and his wife Harriet enjoyed attending the annual Army Reunion gathering at the Amana Colonies. Recently, Wesley participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC for US Veterans. Wesley had a way with everyone he met and an unforgettable charm that will always be remembered.

Wesley is survived by his two sons, Dr. Mark (Patti) Schroeder and Morris (Sally) Schroeder both of Clinton; his grandchildren, Barry (Jessica) Schroeder, Lindsay Schroeder, Bradley Schroeder, and Ryan Schroeder; a great granddaughter, Lahna; two brothers, Gordon Schroeder of Clinton and Rodney
(JoEllyn) Schroeder of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Carol Lueders of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Harriet, two brothers, and a sister.
