Rock Island/Clinton - Penelope L. “Penny” Nicol age 48 of Rock Island, formerly of Clinton,
died Thursday, May 19th at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24th at the
Pape Funeral Home, Clinton Iowa. A celebration to honor Penny’s life
will begin at 7:00 P.M. Cremation rites will follow with burial at a
later date.

Penny was born in Savanna on September 19, 1962, the daughter of
Dwight L. and Barbara C. (Rath) Nicol. She graduated from Clinton
High School in 1981 and later attended the McConnell Travel School in
Minneapolis. Penny enjoyed reading, history, embroidery and
genealogy. She loved nature and all animals.

Penny is survived by her consort and life partner, Terre Washburn
of Rock Island; two sisters, Jody Hehr of McDonough, GA and Jennifer
(Martin) Weeks of Port Bryon; a brother, Bryan (Lisa) Nicol of
Camanche; a step-sister, Carol (Hosea) Lee of San Diego; a
step-brother, John (Kathy) Jessen of Fulton; her grandmother, Helen
(Paul) Rath of Savanna and several aunts and uncles including, Paula
(Mark) Thoele of Savanna who was like an older sister. She was
preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank all
Penny’s caregivers from Iowa City especially Dr. Hadder, Anna, Cindy,
Rachel, Paula and Ashley. Online condolences may be left
