Dorothy Mae Clapp, 93, DeWitt, died late Sunday evening, June 12, 2011 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

She was born August 3, 1917 in Princeton Township, Iowa, to Martin and Mabel (Shaw) Stichter. Dorothy married Milroy Gast on September 1, 1937. They farmed at Princeton, Iowa, until moving to DeWitt, Iowa, in 1952. Dorothy and Milroy owned and operated Mil & Dot's Cafe, the Town Coffee Shop and the Candlelight Restaurant in DeWitt. Milroy preceded Dorothy in death in 1966. She married Neil James Clapp from Long Grove in 1968 and he passed away in 2000.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to bowl and did so until the age of 85. Dorothy was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and also enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ at DeWitt.

Surviving are her daughters, Joyce (Larry) Erling of Long Grove, Iowa, and Pat (George) Sterk of Bettendorf, Iowa; a son-in-law, Lowell "Butch" Bowman of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Kevin (Diane) Bowman, Kreg Bowman, Todd Erling, Christine Erling, Jennifer (Marty) Smith and Jill (Bill) Lundie; great-grandchildren, Jesse Bard, JoBeth Erling, Brandon Bowman, Amanda Bowman, Austin Bowman, Lauren Lundie, Brandon Lundie and Carson Smith.

In additon to her husbands, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Beverly Bowman, brothers, Charles, Jim, Goerge and Art Stichter and Kenny Stutzel, and sisters, Eva Carsten, Ella Stutzel, Grace Litscher, Mabel Anderson and Gloria Stutzel.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 in First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt. The Rev. Jeff Wargow will officiate and burial will follow in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to First Congregational United Church of Christ and Westing Place Activity Fund.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Bowman, Kreg Bowman, Brandon Bowman, Todd Erling, Bill Lundie and Marty Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Aimar Schmidt, Gary Stichter, Ronnie Stutzel, Gene Schneckloth and Gene "Skip" Gast.
