Ralph Carl Jansen, 80, DeWitt, died Friday afternoon, May 27, 2011 in his home.
Ralph was born June 4, 1930 in Clinton, to Carl and Stella (Hicks) Jansen. He was a Sergeant with the United States Army, serving his Country during the Korean War. On July 10, 1954 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Hanssen in the Congregational Church, DeWitt. Ralph had worked for over 27 years with the Central Community School District as their first Maintenance Director retiring in 1994.
He was a member of First Congregational United church of Christ, DeWitt, Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238, DeWitt, DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department, DeWitt Police Foundation and was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis; sons, Kevin (Jane) Jansen, DeWitt and Scott (Jennifer) Jansen, DeWitt; grandchildren, Christopher Jansen (Jen, Hunter and Gracie), Kaytlyn Jansen, Kaytlinn Duesing, Brandon Jansen, Keeley Jansen and William Jansen.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Michelle.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. on Wednesday, June 1 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Rev. Jeff Wartgow will officiate. Memorials may be left to DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. and DeWitt Police Foundation.
Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 P. M. on Tuesday May 31 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Military rites will be by the DeWitt American Legion Eugene McManus Post #238.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Jansen, Brandon Jansen, Ronnie Peters, Gary Gonner, Stephen Kedley and Mike Osmun.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Mohr, Joe Van Dierendonck, Darrell Evers, Bob Hansen, Don Kintz, Robert Neer and Rick Ehrler.
