Eunice M. (Mrs. Donald) Wehde, 89, Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday morning, May 24, 2011 in Wheatland Manor at Wheatland, Iowa.

Mrs. Wehde, the former Eunice Mae Reimers was born December 4, 1921 at rural Lost Nation, Iowa, to Edward and Blanche (St. John) Reimers. She grew up in the Lost Nation and Calamus areas. On November 8, 1941, Eunice was united in marriage to Donald R. Wehde at Toronto, Iowa. The couple resided at Savanna, Illinois for many years. Eunice was a homemaker much of her life, and was also employed by Eaton Controls for approximately ten years. Her husband preceded her in death September 27, 1977.

Eunice was a longtime and very active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Savanna, where she belonged to the Altar Guild, Ladies Aid and the Lydians Society. Eunice enjoyed volunteering where ever she was needed.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Allen Shafer, Gore, Oklahoma, and Ruth and Kelly Stoll, Durand, Illinois; grandchildren, Dean (Karla) Shafer, Karen Beyer, Todd (Nelda) Shafer, Laura (John) Tonyan and Gary (Tina) Francisco; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Paul Reimers, Calamus; nieces, Pam, Wanda and Lori.

Preceding Eunice in death in addition to her husband were her parents, a great-grandson, a sister-in-law, Donna and a niece, Anita.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Funeral Home. The Rev. Philip Bigelow will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.
