Helen L. Westbrook, 89, Appleton, WI, formerly of Clinton and Grandview, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton WI. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 2 pm Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Graveside services will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Clinton. Pallbearers will be Andrew Westbrook, Rachel Westbrook, Elizabeth Kerling and Bryan Kerling.
Helen was born May 9, 1921 in Elgin, North Dakota to August Hageman and MaryAnn (Sullivan) Hageman. She married Scott L. Westbrook on August 27, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Helen graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, Nebraska where she lived with her grandparents from the age of 3. Prior to being married Helen worked for several years at AAA of Iowa. She and Scott owned and operated Mufflers Inc on Sixth Avenue South in Clinton from 1970-1990 before retiring to Grandview Iowa.
Shortly after Scott died she moved to Appleton, Wisconsin to be near her family. She enjoyed living at the Renaissance Assisted Living Community where she made a number of good friends.
Helen was an avid reader and along with Scott was involved in Lions Club in both Clinton and Grandview. She enjoyed spending time with family, extended family and friends. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by one son; Daniel (Connie) Westbrook of Sherwood, Wisconsin and two grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel) Westbrook of Neenah, Wisconsin and Elizabeth (Bryan) Kerling of Fairway, Kansas and great granddaughter, Amelia Westbrook.
She was preceded in death by her husband Scott, both parents, her brother Duane Hageman and step-brother Everett Hageman.
