Frances S. Haffner, 89, of Clinton, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.

Graveside Services will be 11:00am, Friday, April 29, 2011 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin James, Russ Shipman, Mike Betts, Mike Krebs, Christopher Muncy, Gregory Betts, and Nathan Betts. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Shipman, Madelyn Shipman, Izabella James, Cassidy DeWitt, and Adelyne James. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 to 10:45am at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Frances Smith was born on May 28, 1921 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Elva (Toops) Smith. She married Warren Haffner on August 21, 1948 in Keokuk, Iowa; he later died on June 21, 1969.

Frances was a 1939 graduate of Ft. Madison High School. She also attended a business college for 2 years.

Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and Parents without Partners. She enjoyed reading.

Frances is survived by a daughter: Sandra Isenhour of Clinton; three grandchildren: Angela (Russ) Shipman of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kevin (Jennifer) James, of Clinton, and Jennifer (Mike) Betts of Dyersville, Iowa; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a son in infancy.
