Clinton, Iowa - Donna J. McDonnell age 76 of Clinton, died Friday April 29, 2011 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, May 4th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Tuesday 4 – 7 pm at the Pape Funeral Home, where a 3:30 pm rosary will be recited and Wednesday 9:30 am until the service hour at the church. Casket bearers will be Nicholas Stolley, Adam Spain, Andrew Cox, Chris Tingle, Mark Pranger, and Aaron Lloyd; and honorary pallbearers will be Alex Ware, Braden Thomas, and Jim Horst. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be given to Genesis VNA and Hospice Foundation, Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, or St. Ambrose University Peace Institute. Donna was born on Dec. 26, 1934 in Clinton, the daughter of Raymond and Viola (Rasmussen) Horst. She graduated from St. Mary High School in Clinton in 1953. She married Charles J. McDonnell on June 5, 1954 in Alameda, CA; he died in 1992. She was an executive assistant for The United Way of Clinton for several years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and a volunteer at the R.S.V.P. of Clinton.

Donna is survived by her four daughters, Maureen (Roger) Stolley of Northfield, MN, Peggy McDonnell of Bettendorf, IA, Jennifer Spain of Davenport, IA, and Sharon (Steve) Thomas of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren and
9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Dick) Lingle of Clinton and Catherine (Michael McIntyre) Wood of Dunn Loring, VA; and a brother, Paul (Ann) Horst of Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
