Goose Lake, Iowa - Shirley E. Wofford, age 79 of Goose Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center South in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Thursday, April 28th at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Shirley was born in Clinton on December 9, 1931, the daughter of Vernon and Sophia Guenther Vorbeck. She graduated from Goose Lake High School. Shirley married Lester Edleman. She later married Wayne Wofford in Licking, Missouri. Wayne preceded her in death. Shirley owned and operated the Welcome Inn in Goose Lake for 17 years. She had also worked for Community Care in Charlotte and later at Jane Lamb Hospital. Shirley loved playing cards, was an avid reader and animal lover, especially horses and cats. She enjoyed watching NBA and WNBA basketball games.

Shirley is survived by her daughter; Sheryl Edleman of Goose Lake; a brother, Clifford Vorbeck of Clinton; a sister, Beverly Wulf of Davenport and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
