Ruth L. Woodard, 95, of Camanche, formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her home in Camanche.
Funeral Services will be 9:00am, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Clinton with Rev. Ron Lott officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery – Ottumwa, Iowa. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Woodard, Jr., James Adams, Adam Adams, Willis Woodard, Chris Tidwell, Maxmillion Folk, and Bobby Niebuhr. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-7:00pm at the First Baptist Church, Clinton. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth L. Knight was born on April 21, 1915 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Wellington and Rena (Carnes) Knight. She was a 1934 graduate of Ottumwa High School.
Ruth married Walter Woodard on December 31, 1936 in Ottumwa, Iowa; he later died on October 11, 1994.
Ruth was a homemaker and also the retired chaplain of the Camanche American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church –Clinton, and T.O.P.S Chapter 132. She will be dearly remembered for saying “Remember God loves you unconditionally and so do I.”
Ruth is survived by a son: Thomas (Lucy) Woodard of Clinton, Iowa; a daughter: Ellen Schneider of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons: Walter Jr. and Billy Gene, five brothers, and two sisters.
Memorials can be made to the Deacon’s board with the First Baptist Church, Clinton.
