Herman Harold Otten, 84, of Clinton, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Mercy Living Center, North. Services will be 1:30pm Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. Pallbearers will be his sons.
Herman was born February 20, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Herman and Frieda (Huebbe) Otten. He married Bonita Takes; she died in 1972. He later married Donna Nelson on May 3, 1973 in Camanche.
Herman was a United States Navy WWII Veteran.
He was employed as a truck driver for Carstensen Freight Line for 42 years, retiring in 1989.
Herman enjoyed fishing, spending time with his sons and grandkids, wrestling, walking the bike path with his friend Dorothy and woodworking and crafts.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Clinton; sons, Joseph (Dannine) Otten, Dennis (Bonnie) Otten, Richard (Sharon) Otten and Thomas T. Otten and his fiancé, Lesley, all of Clinton; sister, Delores Chambers of Camanche; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, son, Ronald in 1973, brothers Robert and Charles Otten and sister, Lucille Otten Broderick.
