Clinton, Iowa - Alice M. "Tootie" Diettrick age 93 of Clinton, died Thursday March 31, 2011 at Mercy North Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday April 4th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 9:30 am Monday until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Chuck and Wayne Andersen, Mark and Matt Walker, Robert and Keith Wright. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Alice was born on July 4, 1917 in Bryant, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Teresa (Nissen) Matthiesen. She married Charles Diettrick on Aug. 1, 1935 in Clinton, he died in 1981. Alice worked at Collis Company in Clinton for several years. She was a member of the Community Congregational Church, UCC, where she did mission work. She was an historian and volunteered at the Pantry United in Clinton. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and fishing.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Alice (Frank) Andersen of Clinton and Harriet Walker of Savanna, IL; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren; half sister, Venieta Hebdon of Clinton; and a half brother, John Dau of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Leona and Janice, an infant son, Orville, a sister, Marie, and a half sister, Erna.
