Clinton HeraldWESTCHESTER, Ill. — Jane A. Massura (nee Burken) was born in Clinton, Iowa on July 15, 1936 and passed away on February 26, 2011.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Infant Church, 1601 Newcastle, Westchester, IL.
Jane grew up in Clinton, Iowa and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Jane began teaching at Elm School in Burr Ridge in 1960.
After 32 years of teaching at the same school, Jane continued to work at Elm as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aid until June 2010.
Throughout her 50 years of service, Jane never lost her enthusiasm for working with students. Among the many accolades she received during her tenure was being selected by the Jaycees as the Outstanding Young Educator of the Year.
Outside of the educational realm, Jane was a member of the Divine Infant Church Choir and an active member and president of Westchester Friends of the Library.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Helen Burken and husband Matthew.
She is survived by her brother Thomas (Barbara) Burken of Naperville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Academy, Clinton, Iowa in Jane Massura’s name.
