Robert A. Williams, DeWitt, died Saturday evening, February 26, 2011 where he wanted to be, in his home, surrounded by family.

Robert Adrian Williams was born March 29, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Robert and Evelyn (Wendel) Williams. Bob graduated from the Spaulding Institute for Young Gentlemen in Peoria, Illinois. He married Judy Blunck June 5, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Bob worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance for over 25 years, He went on to work at Insurance Audit Service in Davenport. Retirement gave Bob the opportunity to delve into his true passions of music and literature. He wrote scholarly works on James Joyce, wrote over one hundred book and music reviews, proof-read and edited books and dissertations for many authors around the world.

He shared his home with Vietnamese refugees, foreign exchange students and over 40 foster children.

Surviving are his wife, Judy; children, Mark Williams, Columbus, Ohio, Jennie Johnson, West Des Moines, Jon (Jane) Williams, Hampton, Illinois, Eric (Shannon) Williams, DeWitt; grandchildren, Dane, Jasmine and Tevin Johnson, Alex and Bella Williams and Hope and Ryan Williams; a sister, Joyce Marme, DeWitt; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, no visitation or service will be held. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please spend time with your loved ones.
