OBITUARY-

Peter Jacob, son of Peter and Mary Brimmer, was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, July 24, 1845. He came with his parents to America in the fall of 1853 and located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was baptized in infancy and was confirmer in the Lutheran faith in young manhood in Milwaukee. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Meinke at Lyons, Iowa on March 1, 1871. Nine children came to bless this home, five of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Edward H. of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Rosa M. Lienemann of Maquoketa, John H. of Rice Lake, Wisconsin and Arthur.

He moved to a farm in Cedar County, then to Clinton County and later to the Farr farm, four miles east of Maquoketa, where he lived for 16 years until his wife died in September, 1909. He gave up farming at that time and has lived with a few short intervals, with his son Edward in Kalamazoo. An ulcerous condition of the stomach for a number of years and infirmities of old age were the cause of his death when he passed peacefully away on Thursday, May 12, in Kalamazoo at 12:20 a. m., at the mature age of 81 years, nine months and 18 days.

He was an honest, hard working man, a devoted husband and fond father, a good neighbor and citizen, and with his genial helpmeet planned as wisely as they knew for their interesting family. His work is done and he has entered into his eternal rest. Besides the sorrowing children, several grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Lizzie Dills, Sioux City and a brother, Henry Brimmer, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a number of relatives and a large circle of friends mourn his departure. Funeral services were held from the Buchner chapel on Saturday, May 14, at 2 p.m., where a large circle of old friends gathered to pay last earthly tribute to the departed and express their sympathy to the living. Mrs. Nina Wilson sang consolingly. The floral tribute of family and friends was beautiful. Burial was made on the family lot in Mt. Hope cemetery, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating.
