Marilyn Kathleen Farwell, 79, of Clinton, completed her time on earth to enter her eternal journey on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Farwell, Randy Farwell, Jason Smith, Nolan Rolston, Chris Collopy, Matthew Franks, Wally Schultheis and Vince Donahue. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00am Friday at the funeral home.
Marilyn Kathleen Kreul was born on July 15, 1931 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Blanche (Hocking) Kreul. She was a1949 graduate of Platteville High School. She graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa as a registered nurse in 1953. She married Robert J. Farwell on October 12, 1953 in Platteville.
Marilyn worked in many areas of nursing, including Pediatrics, behavioral medicine, ophthalmology and geriatrics. She was a tremendous caregiver and always put the feelings and concerns of her patients first. She retired from the Clinton Retirement Village Nursing Home as Director of Nurses in April of 1996. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events where her voice was often heard above the crowd. Her hobbies included watching professional tennis, reading, knitting, baking pies, playing cards, and pulling the one-armed bandit.
Her family left to honor her memory and keep her spirit living include her husband: Bob; two sons: James Farwell of Palm Harbor, Florida, Randal (Deannie) Farwell of Pembroke Pines, Florida; two daughters: Debra (Chris) Collopy of Clinton and Michelle (Matthew) Franks of Clinton; 4 grandsons: Jason (Amy) Smith, Nolan Rolston, Trey Franks, and Sean Paul Farwell; five granddaughters: Mehgan and Devvin Rolston, Lacey and Brittney Farwell, Ashlynn Farwell; two great-granddaughters: Maggie and Molly Smith; her sister Karen (Bill) Engelhart of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; and many close nieces and nephews.
Those she will be joining in her eternal journey include her father, mother, sister: Vivian Tatge, and grandson: Chad Robert Smith. Her family extends special appreciation for Hospice, neighbors Dick & Dorothy Lingle, Tom & Sanday Hansen, and her hairdresser and friend: Nancy Kaczinski. Memorials can be made to the family.
