Marie C. O’Neil, 96, of Clinton, died January 29, 2011 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 11 am, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Turner, Brian Finnicum, Doug Heppner, Harry Carstensen, Clarence Izenga, and Marcus Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Turner, Jr., Paul Turner, and Katelyn Finnicum. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 am to the service time at the funeral home.
Marie C. Bark was born November 7, 1914 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Albert “Charles” and Harriet (Green) Bark. She married William “Roy” Turner on October 26, 1933 in Clinton. He died in 1948. She married Howard Finnicum on June 16, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa. She was widowed in August of 1967. She later married John “Jack” O’Neil on June 15, 1971 in Camanche. He died October 23, 1984.
Marie was a lifelong resident of Clinton, Iowa and worked as a seamstress at the Clinton Garment Factory for 26 years.
She was a member of the Church of the Visitation in Camanche, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Club. She loved to sew, dance, and crochet. When asked what she was most proud of she said, “my kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.” She also loved going to the Moose Lodge to watche her great grandkids sing and dance.
Marie is survived by 2 sons: Charles Turner of Clinton and Robert Turner of Greenfield, Iowa; daughter: Donna (Thurel) Reed of Big Springs, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; two sons: Victor Finnicum and Richard Finnicum, an infant sister; and sister: Alberta Wilke.
Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Association.
