Mary D. Edwards, 97, of Camanche died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory where a 7:30pm vigil service will be conducted. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
Mary Deloris Dolgash was born on June 18, 1913 in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Julia (Langazo) Dolgash. She graduated from Old Forge High School. She married Sylvan Edwards on April 3, 1944 in Whitehall, New York.
Mary was employed for 15 years as a waitress at the former Lafayette Hotel and as a mail carrier with the Camanche Post Office for 9 years until retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the Church of the Visitation and the AMVETS Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, and crocheting.
She is survived by 6 daughters: Rosemary (George) Rickerl of Clinton, Barbara (Vern) Larson of Clinton, Margaret (Dallas) Peterson of Camanche, Linda (David) Stowers of Mesa, Arizona, Sylvia Haskill of Canada, and Susan Edwards of Clinton; 2 sons: Raymond Edwards of St. Louis, Missouri, and Donald Edwards of California; 27 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters: Dorothy Fahey of Old Forge, Pennsylvania and Ann Wrobleski of Laurel, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, one granddaughter and one great grandson.
