Mark Richard Evers was born August 23, 1961 in Clinton, the son of Richard and Diann Joyce (Smith) Evers. He was a 1979 DeWitt High School graduate. He received his Associates Degree in Agriculture from Clinton Community College. Mark was known as a social and adventurous soul from childhood, always ready to learn and experience life to its fullest. At the time of his death, the only item left on his "bucket list" was to make Base Camp on Mount Everest. Mark didn't just talk about doing things - he did them. He loved the outdoors and engaged in many outside pursuits, including travel, riding motorcycles, driving sports cars, camping and hiking, skiing with the National Ski Patrol, becoming a Master Scuba Diver, mountain climbing, flying private aircraft, and becoming an expert marksman. He was a gentle giant who made friends easily and kept them forever.

Mark's life of adventure took a new direction when he met the love of his life, Dana Lowry, and they were married on June 26, 1987 in Low Moor. They had 2 sons, Colin and Caleb. Mark tried on a variety of jobs, and then decided to leave farming for good and make a living doing quality woodworking. He established Riverside Custom Woodworking of Fulton, Illinois, making many beautiful things from wood for private and commercial customers. Mark continued to engage in adventures, including working with the Clinton County Sheriff Reserves, and taking a group of boys from Cub Scouts through Venture Patrol, culminating in leading several hiking trips across the Continental Divide. He loved to golf, and was a member of the Clinton Country Club, serving on its Board of Directors for several years, and a member of its 29 Club. His many friends will always remember him for his sunny disposition and readiness to share a joke or story.

Mark is survived by his wife, Dana of Clinton; two sons, Colin Evers of Clinton and Caleb Evers of Ames, IA and Clinton; his father, Richard "Dick" Evers of De Witt; two sisters, Julie (Randy) Hart of Calamus and Joni Evers of De Witt, and one brother, Michael (Gloria) Evers of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents. Memorials may be made to the family for a scholarship being established in Mark's name.
