Lisetta Catharine Eskildsen
(August 20, 1922 - October 2, 2010)

Lisetta C. (Mrs. Max) Eskildsen, 88, Charlotte, died peacefully late Saturday morning, October 2, 2010 at The Alverno, Clinton, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Eskildsen was born Lisetta Catharine Christiansen, August 20, 1922 in Charlotte to Louis and Sophie (Gregerson) Christiansen. She married Max Eskildsen October 20, 1956 in Palmyra, Missouri. The couple farmed at rural Charlotte until retirement in 1998. Lisetta's work included Bob's Superette and the American Legion, Charlotte, and Burpee Seed and Swift Company, Clinton. Max preceded Lisetta in death August 17, 2008.

She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, and the Lydia Circle. Lisetta was a Girl Scout Leader, belonged to the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and The Neighborhood Club. She enjoyed helping others and socializing and will be fondly remembered for fixing hair for her neighbors and friends. She loved her family dearly and one of her many special joys were making homemade goodies, especially at Christmastime. Lisetta was caring and unselfishly devoted to her family and friends until her last day.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Jerry and Jean Purcell, DeWitt, Mark and Becky Eskildsen and Paula and Joe Brozo, Charlotte; grandchildren, Garic (Marley) Purcell, Greyson Purcell, Eric (Rachael) Eskildsen, Kimberly Eskildsen and Steven Eskildsen; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lopez, Cameron Purcell, Kaden Weber, Maxzen and Ava Eskildsen; a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dick and Louise Eskildsen, Logansport, Indiana, Luella Christiansen and Mildred Christiansen, Charlotte; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Lisetta was preceded in death by infant daughters, Bonnie and Janet, her parents, brothers, Raymond, Jerry, Gerhardt, Orville and Leon and sisters, Ann Houston, Louise Armour and Inga Fier as well as twin siblings.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2010. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Terry Ellis will officiate. Burial will follow at Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran, Charlotte, or The Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.

Pallbearers will be Steven and Eric Eskildsen, Garic and Greyson Purcell, Gene, Bill and Jeff Christiansen.
