Alice Mae Piper-Everson, 84, of Clinton, died, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.

Alice was born on July 11, 1926 in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of George and Emma (Wilkens) Piper. She attended St Mary's Catholic School before moving to Clinton with her family. She married Clifford "Kip" Everson January 30, 1945 while he was home on leave from the Navy.

Alice worked at Swifts and Clinton Foods before having her own family. She was employed at General Electric in Morrison as a machine operator for 15 years and was a member of the Eagles Club.

Alice was a cook extraordinaire, long before the cooking channel was in vogue. She loved, nurtured, and fed many a friend and family through the years. Alice was game for any adventure, spending her 75th birthday on the Wapsi River partying with her family. Alice lived and loved for her children, their spouses and especially her grandchildren. She was always the life of the party and a great story teller.

She has been a resident of Eagle Point Nursing Home for the last few years. A special thank you is given to all the staff that loved and provided care for her at the home, especially to her friend Macayla.

The family will greet friends Saturday, August 28 ,2010 from 12:00-2:30p.m.at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. A prayer will conclude the visitation at 2:30. It was Alice's wish to be cremated. Please join them in celebrating her life immediately after at the Moose Lodge.

She is survived by three sons: Ronald (Carey) Everson of Clinton, Richard (Tracy) Everson of Camanche, and Robert (Peggy) Everson of Clinton; one daughter: Patricia Downs of Sarasota, Florida; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, two brothers: David Piper of San Francisco, California, and Harry Piper of Chicago, Illinois.
