Gerald Nielsen

Gerald Nielsen, 86, of Clinton, passed away August 30, 2010, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabiliation Center. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Noon at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel, with Pastor Paul Willis officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Clinton lawn Cemetery.

Gerald was born June 14, 1924, in Clinton to Robert and Alice (Deloe) Nielsen. He attended Clinton schools. Gerald was married to Edna Schroeder on June 1, 1946, in Clinton. He served in the Navy from December 6, 1941 to October 29, 1945 during WW II. He served aboard the USS North Carolina. He was a millwright with Alcoa. Gerald belonged to the Amvets, loved the Cubs and Bears and enjoyed reading. Gerald is survived by three daughters, Jean Watts, Iowa City; Carol (Bill) Forsee, Omaha, NE; and Pam (Mark) Spittler, Clinton; 5 grandchildren, Brian, Russell, Melissa, Megan and William; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Eugene Nielsen, Clinton; and 1 uncle, Robert Deloe, Clinton.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 2 brothers. Memorials are to be established
