Robert Hines

Robert Francis Hines, 82, of Camanche, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, at West Wing Place in DeWitt. Funeral services are at 10:30a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche with Father Okumu officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the Church of Visitation with the prayer vigil at 5pm. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Robert was born on February 4, 1928, in DeWitt, Iowa to Joseph and Philomena (Noel) Hines. He married Janice Moss on August 7, 1954, in Davenport. Robert was a farmer. He belonged to the Church of the Visitation. Robert enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed the stock market and playing his harmonica.

Robert is survived by his wife, Janice of Camanche, his 13 children, Pam and Eldon Drury, Camanche; Joe and Colleen Hines, Nashua, NH; Rebecca and Mark Schmidt, League City, TX; Jerry and Tina Hines, Jacksonville, FL; Lynn and Mike Jordan, Parkersburg, WV; Marya and Rick Goynes, Clinton; Jon Hines, Camanche; David and Donna Hines, Camanche; Richard and Marilyn Hines, Camanche; Tina and Stan Smith, DeWitt; Daniel Hines (Tracy Manning), Davenport; Alison and Russ Kowzic, Clinton; Jessica and Brett Dahl, Camanche; 26 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Inez and Matt Tobin, Long Grove, IA; Judy and Gary Kroeger, Eldridge, IA; Janet and Bob Bermeister; 3 brothers, John Gluesing, Goose Lake, IA; Paul and Sally Gluesing, Eldridge, IA; and Tom Hines of Grand Mound, IA.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Hines, and four sisters, Mary T. Cronkleton, Rita Mae Wiese, Phyllis Verhulst and Carole Gronewold. Memorials can be made to the Church of the Visitation, Genesis Hospice or West Wing.
