Eva Berner

Eva L. Berner, 87, of Clinton, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, June 20, 2010 from 2:00-5:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Private family burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery.

Eva Leana Berner was born December 30, 1922 in Honey Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin U. and Rose Ann (McIntosh) Adams. She married Harold Berner on October 2, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died February 25, 1950.

She was a 1940 Dunlap High School graduate.

She worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company for 13 years and Western Casualty in Davenport as an underwriter and a clerk until her retirement in 1985.

Eva enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son: Benjamin (Carol) Berner of New London, Iowa; two daughters: Barbara Holst of Lowden, Iowa and Betty Berner of Camanche; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. two sisters: Dorothy Sandstoe of Clinton and Donna Woods of Clinton, Iowa; one brother Harold (Cleora) Adams of Loves Park, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Hawkeye Area Downs Syndrome Association or the American Diabetes Association.
