Scott C. Rands, 40, DeWitt, died Thursday evening, May 27, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Scott Christopher Rands was born March 31, 1970 in Davenport, to Robert and Barbara (Jaeger) Rands. Scott was a 1988 graduate of Central High School, DeWitt, and attended Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids for several years. His career in water treatment began with the City of DeWitt and then to Rock Island Integrated on Arsenal Island. Scott's current position as Operations Supervisor, commenced with Indiana American Water in Wabash, Indiana, and most recently with Iowa American Water in Davenport.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Scott served many years as a Reserve Police Officer for the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, City of DeWitt and Wabash County Sheriff's Department. He was also a longtime member of the DeWitt Fire Department and Rotary Club in Indiana. Scott was a lifelong avid Chicago Cubs fan and Iowa State Cyclones. He took great pride in all aspects of his employment with American Water.

Surviving are his fiance, Tammy Hlubek and children, Mikayla and Nathan; his son, Carter; parents, Robert Rands and Barbara Rands, DeWitt; sister, Melissa Rands Phillips and her husband, Bart, and their daughter, Vivienne, Winnepeg, Manitoba; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Preceding Scott in death were his grandparents, Charles and Clara Rands and Virtus and Gladys Jaeger.

The family will receive relatives and friends in the Gathering Space at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to a charity of choice or by being a bloodbank donor.

Pallbearers will be Joel Johnson, Greg Blaske, Michael Meggers, David Meggers, Audie Foster and Scott Jansen.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of the onlcology department and ICU at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus.
