Dorothea H. Heneke, 90, DeWitt, died Monday evening, May 17, 2010 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Mrs. Heneke was born November 9, 1919 in Welton, Iowa, to Henry Richard and Martha Amelia (Francks) Jebsen. She attended Welton School and graduated from high school there in 1937. Dorothea was employed at Sears Saddlery in Davenport, a manufacturer of defense equipment and later went on to the Rock Island Arsenal.

On April 16, 1944, Dorothea was united in marriage to Myron Heneke at St. John Lutheran Church, Preston. They made their home in Bryant, where Myron was in partnership in the Naeve Hybrid Seed Corn Business. They farmed at Camanche from 1955 until 1957 at which time they moved to Grinnell after purchasing the Sureway Seed Corn Co. Dorothea served as secretary/treasurer of the company and was a homemaker. The couple retired in 1980. Myron preceded Dorothea in death in August of 1984.

She was longtime active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Grinnell where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, was Past-President and member of the Mary Martha Circle and served in various offices of the Church. She was also a Past-President and lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi. Dorothea moved to DeWitt in 2001 where she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her children, Darla Pearce and her husband, Ken, Grinnell, Dale Ullestad-Heneke and his wife, Mary, Ames; grandchildren, Tim (Rebecca) Pearce, Renee (Ed) Han, Joel Ullestad-Heneke; great-grandchildren, Britny, Jordan, Damian, Callum and Liam; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Jebsen, DeWitt, and Betty Jebsen, Maquoketa.

Preceding Dorothea in death in addition to her husband, were her parents, brothers, Donald and Vernon and sisters, Irene Bennis, Regina Lazaro, Lanor Braet, Margaret Lang and Opal Lasack.

Visitiation will be from 12:30 until 1:15 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Church with the Rev. Brad A. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt or St. John Lutheran Church, Grinnell. Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, is caring for the arrangements.
