Johanna C. Hoenicke, 102, of Clinton, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at her home.

The Visitation will be Sunday from 2:oo-5:00PM at Clinton Chapel Snell Zornig Homes and Crematory. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, May 10, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Stephen Brandenburg, Edwin Wing, Darren Melvin, Tyler Easley, Richard Creecy, Beau Connelly, Jason Connelly, Darius Rahbar and Caleb Howe.

Johanna Christiansen was born on April 11, 1908, in West Bargum, Germany the daughter of Johannes and Christina (Caspersen) Christiansen. She moved to the United States from Germany in 1929. She married Jens Hoenicke on February 10, 1931 in Clinton; he later died July 7, 1972.

Johanna was a homemaker and also helped on the family farm near Goose Lake.

Johanna was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Naomi Circle, and also active with Young at Heart.

Johanna is survived by two daughters: Bernita Wing of Clinton, Wilma (LaVern) Thillmony of Spragueville, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.

Johanna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church and Mercy Hospice.
