Clinton, Iowa - Geraldine (Gerry) Wilkins age 88 of Clinton died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. A family graveside service will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, May 8th at the Smith Cemetery, near Almont. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Gerry was born near Almont, Iowa on July 23, 1921, the daughter of Alexander and Freda Thomsen Lawrence. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1939. Gerry taught at the Almont School for several years. She was employed at the Nielsen Clearing House for 26 years. Gerry had been a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, traveling, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She listened to the Lumber Kings games and followed the Cubs and White Sox.

Gerry is survived by two daughters, Ona Fay Wilkins of Cedar Rapids and Holly Wilkins of Clinton; a son, Kim Wilkins of Eldridge; three grandsons, Jason and Justin Wilkins of Denver, CO and Alex Wilkins of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Edith Rickertsen of Bryant and a brother-in-law, Garnet Eggers of Teeds Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyle and Dennis Lawrence and two sisters, Cecelia Lawrence Gray and Elsie Lawrence Eggers. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
