Jacob Johann Oltman, 28, Newnan, Georgia, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa passed away Saturday afternoon, April 3, 2010 in Georgia.

Jacob Johann Oltman was born on October 3, 1981 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Roger and Mary Oltman. Jake graduated from De Witt Central High School, in 2000, where he spent a majority of his time doing what he loved, playing baseball and football. Jake went on to the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse where he earned a degree in physics. While in college, he spent summers back in De Witt coaching high school baseball. Also, at LaCrosse, Jake met the love of his life and his wife to be, Kerri Carnahan. Shortly after earning a graduate degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Minnesota, Jake and Kerri got married in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on July 18, 2009. The two lived together in Newnan, Georgia where they both found work.

Work, however, was not Jake’s primary focus in life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing and attending sporting events across the country. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Lions, and St. Louis Blues fan. Jake was lucky enough to pass away on second base doing what he loved, and although Jake was stranded on base in death, he always made it home in life.

Jake is survived by his beloved wife, Kerri Oltman, Newnan, Georgia; parents, Roger and Mary Oltman and brothers, Dean and Scott Oltman, Grand Mound; mother and father-in-law, Bruce and Becki Carnahan, Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandmother, Emilie Logan, of Brighton, Illinois; a new sister, Calli Carnahan and brother, Tony Carnahan; aunts and uncles, cousins, and finally, his teammates throughout his life.
