CLINTON — Dr. John E. Ringdahl, DDS, 78, of Clinton, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Lenior Wood Heathcare Center, Columbia, Missouri.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.

John Edward Ringdahl was born on December 22, 1931, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Oscar and Evanelle (Danielson) Ringdahl. He married Joan M. Wilson on December 22, 1955, in Iowa City, Iowa.

John was a 1950 graduate of Fort Dodge High School. He then attended the University of Iowa and graduated from dental school in 1957. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1957 until being discharged as a captain in 1959.

John was a dentist practicing in Clinton from 1959 until his retirement in 1998.

John was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as a former trustee, a life member of the Iowa Dental Society, a member and past president of the Clinton Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society and the American Dental Society. He was a trustee of the Gateway United Way, served on the board of the Clinton Country Club and a former board member of the Clinton YMCA. John enjoyed his annual Canadian fishing trips in June to the Lake of the Woods. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and his Tuesday and Thursday golf game at the country club with his friends.

John is survived by his wife, Joan of Clinton; two sons, Dr. David (Annette) Ringdahl of Middleton, Wisconsin, and Dr. Bruce (Dr. Erika) Ringdahl of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Shelby Ringdahl, Sydney Ringdahl, Karson Ringdahl, Rachel Ringdahl and Nicole Ringdahl.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. The family wishes to thank Dr. Anoop Aggarwal for his years of extraordinary care and genuine friendship.
