CLINTON — CLINTON — Sophie W. Schneider, age 91, of Clinton, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17th, at Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home. A rosary will precede the visitation. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral Mass Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandsons with her other grandchildren as honorary casket bearers.

Sophie was born in Clinton County on December 8, 1918, the daughter of John and Mary Manikowski Wisor. She was educated in Clinton County schools. Sophie married Orville Schneider in Clinton in 1939. Orville passed away in 1984. Sophie was a member of Prince of Peace Parish where she was a volunteer on the funeral luncheon committee.

She was an active volunteer at the Alverno, was a member of the former St. Boniface Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister to the home bound. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and playing cards with the St. Jude Card Club.

Sophie is survived by her children, Gary Schneider Sr. of Miles, Mary Jo Murphy of Clinton, Penny (Gene) Roling of DeWitt, David (Kay) Schneider of Clinton and Ann Schneider of Clinton; 16 grandchildren, Gary Jr, Anthony, Chris, Eric, Adam, Robyn, Jodi, Ryan, Shaina, Stacy, Rae Ann, Aaron, Cari, Nathan, Lindsay and Ashley; 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret McDermott of DeWitt and Judy Dunn of Camanche.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, John, a granddaughter Kimberly, a great-granddaughter Taylor, a brother Ed Wisor and two sisters, Clara Frame and Mary Runge.
