Lifestyle EditorDeWitt — Alma M. (Mrs. Edward) Krabbenhoft, 87, DeWitt, died Friday evening, March 5, 2010, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
A funeral service will be held on March 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Terry Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memorials maybe made to the church or the Westwing activities department.
Casketbearers will be grandsons: Kevin Krabbenhoft, Matthew Krabbenhoft, Ryan Beckenbaugh, Brian Simpson, Michael Kuehl, Jeff Nelson, Jason Polston, Michael Rossi, Michael Madalozzo and Michael Bill.
Visitation is 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. March 8, 2010, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
The former Alma Margaret Schoolman was born February 13, 1923, to Elmer and Lizzie (Berg) Schoolman in Preston. She married Edward Krabbenhoft on January 9, 1943, at St. John Lutheran Church in Preston. Alma and Edward farmed for 33 years near Charlotte. They worked side by side, not only in the fields, but also in the activities that make a house a home. They retired to DeWitt in 1979. Edward preceded Alma in death in 1991.
She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, and was a member of the Jolly Jokers and the Farmers Union card clubs for many, many years. Alma enjoyed doing crafts of many kinds, especially needle handiwork. She also enjoyed working with her flowers and playing cards with her friends at the Senior Center in DeWitt. Alma was a longtime volunteer at Ekstrand Elementary School where she enjoyed helping the children with their spelling words.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Nyla Krabbenhoft, Princeton, Illinois, and Marvin and Eloiese Krabbenhoft, Austin, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Ronald Beckenbaugh, Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Karen Krabbenhoft, Moline, Illinois; grandchildren, Kevin Krabbenhoft, Michele Simpson, Jennifer Kuehl, Matthew Krabbenhoft, Paula Rossi, Elizabeth Polston, Rhonda Nelson, Katie Bill and Michael Madalozzo; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lucille Schoolman, Arlene Luett and Vera Reints.
Preceding Alma in death in addition to her beloved husband were her parents and her twin brother, Alvin.
