Leonard Wilson 09/18/2001 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Leonard M. Wilson, Clinton, will be noon Thursday at Nelson Heesch Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m.-noon Thursday. Mr. Wilson died Sept. 10, 2001, in Tucson, Ariz. He was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Newell, Iowa. He married Rhea Alcorn in 1939 in Roscoe, S.D. She died in 1970. He married Thelma Firman in 1977. He taught school in Edgewood and Algona high schools before coming to Clinton in 1942. After serving in the Navy in the Pacific, he returned to Clinton in 1946, where he started the vocational building trades program, the first program of its kind in Iowa. He supervised the building of 28 homes with high school students. He also taught industrial arts and coached wrestling for 25 years. Survivors include a son, James Wilson, Redmond, Ore.; a brother, Ashley Wilson, Woodstock, Ill.; and one grandson.
