CLINTON — Marvin (Mitts) Fred Kosin, 89, of Clinton, IA, passed away at home on Sunday, September 20, 2009. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 at Lemke North Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lemke North Funeral Home with Rev. Horst Hehr officiating. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and honorary pallbearer will be Mike Lorenzen.Marvin Kosin was born April 21, 1920 in Clinton, Iowa to Herman and Elsie (Reske) Kosin. He married Margaret Snodgrass on March 8, 1942 in Clinton, IA. He worked at DuPont for 33 years retiring in 1978. He also was an auctioneer for the Clinton Auction House and farmed.He was a member of the Air Force, Aerial Tail Gunner B-24 Bombadeers Group in Italy serving from 1943 - 1945. Mr. Kosin completed 35 bomb missions and earned 4 Bronze Stars, 3 Oakleaf Clusters and a Good Conduct medal. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and family time.Survivors include a son, Marvin (Charm) Kosin of DeSoto, MO; 4 daughters, Sharon (Steve Charnoski) Stickell of Camanche, Rae Ann (Russell) Mussmann of Camanche, Linda (Bob) Sykes of Orange Park, FL and Sally Crowley of Clinton; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaert in 2005, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and 2 brothers.Death date: Sept. 20, 2009
