CLINTON — Cora L. "Boots" Lawlor, age 89, of Clinton died Sunday, September 20, 2009 at her home.A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 23rd at Prince of Peace Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Casket bearers will be James Golinvaux, Craig Wharf, Scott Hulton, Luke McDonnell, Nathan Buell, Solomon Atherton, Samuel Voss and Patrick Worsley. Cora was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on April 26, 1920, the daughter of Raymond and Cora Nodland Powers. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Cora married Thomas J. Lawlor on November 9, 1938 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. Thomas died on September 6, 1996.Cora and Tom owned and operated the Lawlor Rug Company in Clinton for many years. She had also worked at the South Clinton Tie Company. Cora was a member of Prince of Peace Parish where she volunteered at church dinners and funeral luncheons. She was a homemaker who loved her children dearly, enjoyed dancing, was a seamstress, an ardent fan of the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre, and also followed the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Cubs. Cora is survived by ten daughters, Michaele Golinvaux of Clinton, Joan (Russell) Luckritz of Clinton, Susan (Rollie) Unger of Rock Falls, IL, Diane Osburn of Louisville, KT, Janeen (Bob) Naeve of Andover, Lucia McDonnell of Clinton, Mary (Shane) Villers of Stayton, OR, Catherine Atherton of Linden, CA, Bernadette (Roger) Voss of Charlotte, and Mona Weidman of Clinton; two sons, Joseph (Candy) Lawlor of Ames IA and John (Jackie) Lawlor of Queen Creek, AZ; 42 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson and 90-plus nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a still born daughter, twin daughters, Mary Louise and Cora Lucille in infancy, a son, Daniel, two grandchildren, Ann and Aaron, a great-grandson Micah, a sister and a brother.Memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Youth Ministry.
