CHARLOTTE — DaVarro Rickertsen, 76, Charlotte, died Saturday morning, September 19, 2009 in his home. He was born June 11, 1933 in Clinton, to Ben and Bertha (Schafer) Rickertsen. DaVarro graduated from Charlotte High School in 1952. He married Brenda Pretz-Grant, August 30, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte where DaVarro was a member all of his life. He worked with his father in the family blacksmith shop. He later worked for Northeast Schools as a custodian and bus driver. DaVarro retired from Community Care in 1995. In addition to his church membership, he enjoyed playing in the German Band and was a proud member of AA from which he recently received a 20 year token. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda; children, NaVon and his wife, Mureen, Tacoma, Washington, Nathan and his wife, Sherrie, Manona, Kent, Charlotte, and Neil and his wife, Mary, Clinton; grandchildren, Briana, Noah, Meagan, Haliegh, Grant and Ellie; and a brother, Allan Dean Rickertsen, Charlotte. Preceding DaVarro in death were his parents. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Terry Ellis will officiate with burial to follow at Rossiter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons as well as grandsons, Noah and Grant and a friend, Bill McClimon.
