GRAND MOUND — Marjorie M. (Mrs. Ronald) Fischer, 81, Grand Mound, died early Thursday morning, August 20, 2009, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. The former Marjorie Mae Wagener was born June 4, 1928, to Clarence and Ida (Hamilton) Wagener. When Marge was young, the family moved to Elwood where she graduated from Elwood High School. On May 1, 1949, Marge was united in marriage to Ronald Fischer in Maquoketa. The couple farmed in the Welton and DeWitt area for many years. Ron preceded Marge in death on March 17, 2005. Her family meant the world to her and she greatly enjoyed time spent with them, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marge also was a member of an area card club for over 50 years. Surviving are children and their spouses, Rick and Terri Fischer, Grand Mound; Julie and Jim McCulloh, Waukee; Dave and Gail Fischer, DeWitt; twelve grandchildren, Maggie (Scott) Grinstead, Mandy (Mike) Thiel, Michael (Kim) Fischer, Will Fischer, Abbie (Jim) Pietruszynski, Katie (Mike) Abbott, Tim (Jessica) McCulloh, Troy (Evie) Fischer, Abe Fischer, Brooke Fischer, Marty (Suzanne) Fischer and Trish (Doug) Hedin; eleven great-grandchildren, Jacob and Allison Grinstead, Benjamin and Maddie Thiel, Drew Fischer, Leo and Ava Pietruszynski, Harry Abbott, Ty and McKinzie Fischer and Karlee Hedin; a brother, Owen Wagener and his wife, Jane, Maquoketa. In addition to her husband, Marge was preceded in death by a son, Randy Fischer, in 1975; by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Camilla and Lloyd Fey, and a daughter-in-law, Marla Fischer. Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Westwing Place, Genesis Hospice or Camp Courageous. Pallbearers will be Marty Fischer, Troy Fischer, Tim McCulloh, Michael Fischer, Abe Fischer, Will Fischer and Chuck Fey. Honorary pallbearers will be Maggie Grinstead, Mandy Thiel, Trish Hedin, Abbie Pietruszynski, Katie Abbott and Brooke Fischer.
