MORRISON, Ill. — Ruth Drolema-Hamstra, 91, of Morrison, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at her daughter's home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL. The Rev. Scott Bonestroo, pastor of Spring Valley Reformed Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, Ill. Memorials may be made to Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, and Self-Help Enterprises, Sterling, IL.She was born June 11, 1918, in Carroll County, IL, to Jacob and Alice (Wiersema) Eissens. She was educated in Park Hill Grade School in rural Carroll County.She married Peter Drolema on January 6, 1939, in Thomson, IL; he died January 25, 1967. She then married Marvin Hamstra on April 16, 1976, in Morrison, IL; he died March 9, 2009. She was employed by Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, then worked in the housekeeping department of the Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL. She was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, where she was part of the Ladies Aid Society, Sunday school teacher and Girls League leader. Ruth enjoyed gardening, crocheting and socializing while serving coffee to everyone. Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Arlyn) Huizenga of Morrison, IL; one stepdaughter, Ruth (Tony) Boom of Moline, IL; two stepsons, Gerald (Esther) Hamstra of Morrison, IL, and Keith (Joyce) Hamstra of Morrison, IL; twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren.She was preceded in death by two husbands; one son, Robert Drolema; one son-in-law, Gordon Houzenga; two sisters, Elsie Houzenga and Hilda Houzenga; and two brothers, Henry and Charlie Eissens.Death date: Aug. 16, 2009
