DEWITT — Robert H. Waack, 94, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at West Wing Place, DeWitt, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 30th, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church; DeWitt, Iowa, with Reverend H. Robert Harness as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.Visitation will be Monday, June 29th, 2009, from 4 until 7 p.m. with a vigil service following the visitation at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa.His grandsons will be pallbearers and his granddaughters will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may go to DeWitt Adult Special Olympics or West Wing activity fund.Mr. Robert Henry Waack was born on May 11th, 1915, in Grand Mound, Iowa, the son of Henry and Catherine (Flynn) Waack. He married Bernadine Pinter on February 21, 1939, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeWitt, Iowa. She died on January 20th, 2009. They shared nearly 70 years of marriage and raised 9 children. Robert was employed at Capers Dairy and later at J. I. Case for 23 years. He was governor of the DeWitt Moose Lodge for several years. Those left to honor his memory is 2 daughters, Carolyn (Chuck) Hunter, DeWitt, Iowa, and Lois (Alvin) Block, DeWitt, Iowa; five sons, James F. (Nancy) Waack, Rutledge, Missouri, Ronald (Cheryl) Waack, Lititz, PA., Robert R. Waack, Wells, Minnesota, Stephen E. (Helen) Waack, Florissant, Missouri, and Paul J. (Kathy) Waack, Cedar Falls, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and 2 brothers, Joseph (Marcella) and Harry Waack of DeWitt, Iowa.Preceding him in death was his parents; his wife, Bernadine; 2 sons, Warren and Dennis Waack; and a grandson, Michael Waack; and two brothers.www.nelsoncfuneralhome.comDeath date: June 26, 2009
