May 26, 1913-June 8, 2009 GRAND MOUND — Vernon Henry Vogt was born 5-26-1913 in Grand Mound, IA, to Carl and Tine Vogt. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1931-1936 aboard the USS Tennessee following high school graduation. He and H. Elizabeth Burlingame were married in Clinton, Iowa, on May 27, 1937, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary prior to her death in 1997. He was employed in Clinton at the Curtis Company and Interstate Power Company before retiring in 1974. Vern and Liz lived in Clinton and Camanche, Iowa, before moving to AZ in the early 1990's. They had a summer home in MN, which they enjoyed the most. Vern had one brother, Gerald, who preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, Jim (Nancy) and Bob (Val); four grandchildren, John, Terri, Lori and Rob; 7 great-grandsons; and 1 great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Milly Stahl and her family. Family and friends cherish the wooden items he made for us. Vern was always ready to help with a project be it large or small. He enjoyed a healthy active life and loved spending time with his family. Death date: June 8, 2009
