ALBANY, Ill. — Harold H. "Bud" Huggins, 87, Albany, IL, died Wednesday at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL.Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Merchant, Pastor at Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment is at Oakridge Cemetery, Albany, IL with graveside military funeral honors.Memorials are established at Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton, IL and Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL.Harold was born January 30, 1922 in Albany, IL to Clyde and Beatrice (Haynes) Huggins. He was educated in the Albany Grade and High Schools. Bud married Lorraine E. Vogel on February 14, 1946 in Fulton, IL; she survives. He served in the U. S. Army, 3rd Division, 30th Infantry, Company "C" during World War II. Bud was first employed by the former Chicago and Northwestern and the Rock Island Railroads. He then co-owned and operated, along with his parent, Huggins Grocery in Albany, IL until 1959 and then worked for General Electric, Morrison, IL retiring in 1984. He belonged to Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton, IL and served several terms as deacon, past member of the church's Men's League. Bud was member of the Albany Fire Department for 37 years, member and past Commander Albany American Legion, Hanson/Kennedy Post #1079. During the 1965 flood he served as a member of Whiteside County Civil Defense serving as a duck operator. He was a member of Friends of Albany Indian Mounds. His personal interests included railroads, military history, American Indians and mostly enjoyed the fellowship with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Lorraine; one daughter, Marlene (Everett) Stone, Clinton, IA; two sons, Duane (Barb) Huggins, Eldridge, IA, and Kevin Huggins, Albany, IL; four grandchildren, Yvonne Stone, Jeff (Amanda) Stone, Jason (Jamie) Huggins and Dan (Amy) Huggins; three great-grandchildren, Jayce, Kylie and Hannah Stone; one brother, William (Amelia) Huggins, Tucson, AZ.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Conkwright.
