CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Wayne Vernon "Hap" Jungjohann, 71, of Casselberry, FL, formerly of Clinton, died Monday, June 15, 2009. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Life gathering at Rastrelli's Restaurant on Main Avenue in Clinton on Wednesday, June 24th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Clinton Humane Society. Interment will be at a later date in Miles Cemetery, Miles, Iowa, with graveside military funeral honors. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Wayne was born on December 29th, 1937, in Clinton Iowa. He was a graduate of Miles Consolidated High School in 1955. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in September of 1958, serving in Germany. He was a distinguished member of the Lyons community. He was employed by Iowa State Savings bank for 27 years. He retired as vice president and branch manager in 1985. He was a 1976 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking. Civic activities included: 2 terms as 7th Ward Clinton City Councilman, president of Clinton County Bankers Association, president and director of the Clinton Baseball Club, a Class A Dodger and Giants farm club, president Lyons Retail Bureau Business Association, president Lyons Club, member of Rotary Club, chairman and director of Clinton Planning Commission for 12 years. In 1972, he received the Clinton Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. While in Clinton, Wayne was a longtime member of Valley Oaks Country Club where he was generously known as an average golfer. For the last 24 years Wayne has resided in Florida. Presently, he served 3 terms as the treasurer of Casselberry Veterans Club, a lifetime member and a trustee since 2001. He is a member of V.F.W Post 5405 and American Legion Post #183, Fern Park. Wayne was always known for his sense of humor and enjoyment of meeting people. Survivors include his two children, Julie (William) Raab of Clinton and Jim (Rebecca) Jungjohann of Denver, CO.; four grandsons, Cameron, Evan , Erik and Jared; his ex-wife, Debbie (Curt) Schroeder of Fulton; a sister, Marilynn (Bill) Musker of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Warren Jungjohann of Sebring, FL.; and a special friend over the last nine years, Rose Tatro.
