BELLEVUE — Marv Banowetz, 50, Bellevue, Iowa, died at sunset Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home with friends and family at his side. Marv Banowetz was born November 11, 1958, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He is the son of Marcella (Sally) Banowetz of DeWitt, Iowa, and the late Paul Banowetz. Marv graduated in 1977 from Central Community High School in DeWitt, Iowa, and from Scott Community College in Davenport, Iowa, with a degree in diesel mechanics. Marv married Nancy Anderson of DeWitt, Iowa, on July 28, 1979. Marv worked as key account manager for Heil Environmental of Fort Payne, Alabama. Marv was a member of The Shrine of North America, Alhambra Shrine Chapter in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Marv had a tremendous love of life, of family and of friends. He enjoyed riding his Harley, boating and being outdoors. He was a brilliant mechanic and loved his job. He had a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed. Surviving are wife, Nancy Banowetz of Bellevue, Iowa; son, Derek, of Phoenix, Arizona; mother, Sally (Marcella) Banowetz of DeWitt, Iowa; mother- and father-in law, Kay and Larry Anderson of DeWitt, Iowa; sisters, Judy Loussaert (Gene) of Long Grove, Alice Banowetz (Greg Hood) of Caribou, Maine, Dee Franzen (Darwin) of Preston, Iowa, Mary Kloewer (Jeff) of DeWitt, Iowa, Deb Assenmacher (Dennis) of DeWitt, Iowa, and Annette Love (Tim) of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Lloyd (Karry) of Fort Payne, Alabama, Steve (Ruth) of DeWitt, Iowa, Alan (Jennifer) of Davenport, Iowa, Dick (Dee Dee) of Grand Mound, Iowa, Leon (Molly) of Dallas, Texas, Dean of Los Angeles, California, and RJ (Stephanie) of Bettendorf, Iowa; over 45 nieces and nephews; and five godchildren. Marv was proceeded in death by his son, Joey Banowetz; father, Paul Banowetz; sister Patti Banowetz; and brothers-in-law, Jeff Steward and Dan Anderson. The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa, from 2 until 7 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, with a masonic service at 7 p.m. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt, Iowa. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marv's name to Ronald McDonald House of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 8948 West Watertown Plank Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53226 or The Shrine of North America, Alhambra Shrine Chapter, 1000 Alhambra Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.
